Here at West Broad Nazarene we believe that our teens are the church of today. We believe that they have the ability to lead now and make a real difference not only in their world but in the life of the church.
“Don’t let anyone think little of you because you are young. Be their ideal, let them follow the way you teach and live, be a pattern for them in your love, your faith, and your clean thoughts.” I Timothy 4:12
Kym Keeney, their leader, is an awesome teacher who challenges them to find hope, direction, and purpose in their future by committing themselves to Jesus and growing in Him. The teens join in with the adults in the regular Worship Service, sometimes helping during the service in various ways.
We work hard to make our services relevant to teens. 90% of teens leave the church after graduating from high school. Often because they were never involved or connected during their high school years. Our goal is to buck that trend.
Some of the District Church events our teens attend are: Sonfest at Mt Vernon Nazarene University, SCO District Winter Retreat, Events at the Logan District Center, as well as local activities, such as visiting and taking gifts to the patients at Heinzerling Care Center at Christmas and many others.
Our adults commit at the beginning of the school year to choose a teen and pray for them daily. We believe prayer is the place to start.
